EFFICACY OF AMNIOTIC MEMBRANE MESENCHYMAL STEM CELL THERAPY FOR BURN WOUNDS: META-ANALYSIS STUDY

Efficacy of Amniotic Membrane Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy for Burn Wounds: Meta-Analysis Study

Burn injuries are severe traumas with high morbidity and mortality, requiring specialized management. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising treatment for various conditions, including burns. This meta-analysis evaluates the efficacy and mechanisms of Amniotic Membrane Mesenchymal Stem Cell (AM-MSC) therapy in treating burn wounds.

Seven preclinical studies were identified through comprehensive searches in PubMed, MEDLINE, and other databases up to October 2020. Additional manual searches of study references were conducted. Data analysis was performed using Stata 16 to assess the impact of AM-MSC therapy on burn wound healing.

The meta-analysis demonstrated that AM-MSC therapy significantly improves burn healing rates (SMD 3.34, 95% CI 1.82 to 4.86). The positive effects were observed regardless of transplant type, burn area, and treatment method in the control group.

AM-MSC therapy shows a positive impact on burn wound healing, primarily through promoting angiogenesis and reducing inflammation. This meta-analysis supports the continued exploration of stem cell therapies as adjuncts to first-line treatments for burns. Future clinical studies should focus on optimizing the effectiveness of stem cell applications in burn wound management.
