Achieving Symmetry in Bilateral Cheilorrhaphy: A Retrospective Study at Surabaya CLP Center
Bilateral cheilorrhaphy is more complex than unilateral cheilorrhaphy, and assessing the outcomes objectively requires precise anthropometric measurements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Djohansjah technique in achieving facial symmetry in patients undergoing bilateral cheilorrhaphy at the Surabaya CLP Center.
In 2018, 26 patients underwent bilateral cheilorrhaphy at the Surabaya CLP Center. One year post-surgery, anthropometric measurements were taken using the GIMP application to assess the cupid's bow width ratio, hemilabial length ratio, nasal width ratio, and philtrum ridge length ratio. Statistical analyses included the Independent Sample t-Test and Mann-Whitney Test.
The study found no significant differences in the measured ratios between groups with identical and unidentical cleft lips or cleft alveolar conditions, with p-values greater than 0.05. This indicates that the Djohansjah technique consistently achieves symmetrical results regardless of the preoperative condition.
The bilateral cheilorrhaphy performed using the Djohansjah technique at the Surabaya CLP Center successfully achieved symmetry in the lips, nose, and philtrum. The consistent anthropometric measurements confirm the reliability of this surgical approach.
