FACTORS INFLUENCING SKIN NECROSIS RESULTING FROM EXTRAVASATION INJURIES AND THE RAPEUTIC APPROACHES IN THE PEDIATRIC INPATIENT WARD (JANUARY-DECEMBER 2019)

Exploring Pediatric Extravasation Injuries: Insights and Innovations

At Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya, our recent study sheds light on the complex nature of skin necrosis resulting from extravasation injuries in children. Key findings highlight significant factors such as patient age, types of administered fluids/drugs, and the location of venous lines.

Key Highlights:

  1. Age emerged as a critical factor affecting injury severity, alongside the type and location of intravenous access.

  2. Our research underscores the effectiveness of autolytic debridement as a primary treatment modality for managing these injuries, emphasizing its role in promoting healing and reducing complications.

  3. Moving forward, continued research and collaborative efforts are essential to refine therapeutic strategies and enhance patient outcomes in pediatric intravenous therapy.

Join us in advancing pediatric healthcare through innovative research and evidence-based practices. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of young patients.
